Message from the Principal

Achieving Excellence Together

Dear Families,

Tomorrow our Young Leaders have organised for us to celebrate Sports Colour’s Day. Students are encouraged to wear their team colours for whichever sport they follow. If students do not have a team, they are welcome to come dressed in their House Colour. Of course, students’ need to be dressed appropriately for school including no Singlets, Open-toe shoes or short tops. Students should wear clothing appropriate for exercise as they will engage in a range of sporting activities to ear house points. Thank you to our Young Leaders with the support of Mr Katiforis for organising this event and encouraging as many people as possible in our community to get involved in sport.

NAPLAN

Congratulations to our Year 3 & Year 5 students on completing the NAPLAN assessment earlier this year. The school data received this week indicates a high level of achievement in all areas of Literacy and Numeracy, with our students performing above the State and National Average in most areas. Individual student results have been sent home; please make an appointment with your child’s teacher should you wish to discuss your child’s results.

Sun Smart Policy

In line with the Department and our school’s Sun Smart Policy and to ensure student safety from UV rays, students will be required to wear their school hats from the 1st of September until the end of April 2023 as UV rays are considered highest during these months. Parents, please ensure your child has a navy blue wide-brimmed slouch hat at school. Children not wearing hats will be required to sit in the designated shaded area and will not be allowed to participate in outside play.

I would like to extend my gratitude to of our parents and carers for your support in fostering the home- school partnership and of course a big thank you to all the students who it is our privilege to teach at APS. Finally. thank you to all of our staff for their hard work and dedication they demonstrate every day.
