Year F/1

Week 1 Term 4

The Foundation students have been busy with ordering numbers from smallest to largest and working on addition and subtraction problems in Maths this week. We have been using dice, counters, numbers lines and mental strategies to practise our addition and subtraction facts. We have building, spelling, reading and writing words with four or five letters, such as grill, frog, plum, twin. We are very proud of our efforts with our dictation sentences, "Kim had a pet cat. It was tan and had spots."

The Year 1s have been exploring the connection between addition and subtraction problems. We have learning the /ie/ sound and spellings this week and practising reading and spelling words with this spelling.

We have been busy little bees finishing off our project for the Fleece and Flower show coming up soon. This is a big piece of work for the students where they need to write facts about an animal in their own words, then do a final copy, a heading and draw their own illustrations. This project takes quite a few weeks when your learning to read and write!!
