VOLLEYBALL STATE FINALS
SENIOR BOYS VOLLEYBALL TEAM
On Friday 19th of May the Senior Boys Volleyball team took part in the State Finals. After two previous lead up rounds, the top 8 placed teams came together to play off for the state championship. While the team was a little nervous at the start of the day, they grew in confidence with each set and were swinging freely by the end of the day. The team comprised of Ace Yasna, Ashleigh Saunders, Lachlan Wilson, Liam Thomas, Thomas Nicholas, William Roberts and Jacob Churchill. The boys came up against several recognised sports schools in their draw; facing the experienced teams of Kew, Maribyrnong and Bendigo College. Each game was the best of three sets and played to 20. While most of the other teams were generally unaware of where Korumburra was, one thing is for sure, the plucky upstarts from the country ensured that the Melbourne schools knew who they were by the end of the day. While the Burra boys lost each of their games they pushed the other teams all the way and almost had a set point against Maribyrnong. The team learnt a lot from this experience and it certainly seems to have lit a fire in their bellies for next year. A big thanks to Ms Kordus, for supporting the team on the day, Mr Boulter for taking lunchtime trainings and all of the PE department for the work they have done with the team leading up to the State Championships.
