Kingston Youth Services

The Kingston Youth Services team provides a number of services for young people aged between 12-25 years who live, work or study within the City of Kingston.  They offer support services, organise information forums, hold competitions and run events including short courses. 

 

Kingston Youth also visit MGSC to run events. Some of their programs and parents and youth will appear in the official newsletter occasionally. The best way to see if there is something for you - and be the first to know -  is to visit their website.

Kingston's Youth Advisory Committee (YAC)

Kingston's Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) provides an important forum for young people to identify municipal-wide issues and opportunities, and advise Council about effective policy and service provision within the City of Kingston. The YAC provides opportunities for young people to develop leadership skills and be part of the decision making process.

Work Ready Workshops

Kingston Youth Services have developed a specially curated series of workshops focused on equipping young people to be better prepared for the workforce.

The Work Ready Workshops will increase confidence navigating the employment sector for young people. Topics covered include looking for work, developing resumes and cover letters, preparing for job interviews, understanding worker rights, and exploring volunteer opportunities.

Universal

Universal is a vibrant and exciting free quarterly youth magazine designed to provide an authentic representation of youth culture. The Universal Magazine Committee is a group of creative and talented young people who meet monthly to write, edit and design each page of every edition. Each edition is distributed throughout the City of Kingston and with over 50 editions already developed, is a great way for young creatives to strengthen and showcase their talents and skills.

Being a member of the Universal Magazine Committee provides extensive and valuable opportunities for young people wanting to strengthen or develop skills within the creative industry – whether you are a graphic designer, illustrator, photographer, editor or writer, the Universal Magazine Committee can provide training, hands on experience, networking as well as contribute to any folio pieces.
