Prep Teacher

How long have you worked at

BNPS?

I first started teaching at BNPS way back in 1999!  I left in 2005 when my eldest daughter, Lily, was born.  Skye arrived a couple of years later and I was very lucky to spend quite a few years at home being a mum.

Once my girls started school, I returned to work at BNPS.  I absolutely love working at this school. After so many years it feels like home.  I have made many lifelong friends through working here!

Who inspires you?

I am always inspired by my beautiful students.  I love teaching Prep and it is so rewarding to watch the children develop and help them learn during their first year of school.

It is wonderful to see my students be so brave and take risks when they are just beginning to learn how to read and write.

What is your favourite thing to do on weekends?

I love a quiet weekend with no plans!  I really enjoy going for big walks along the beach or bike track and spending time with my family.

If you could go on a holiday anywhere in the World, where would you go?

I love a holiday with beautiful beaches and palm trees!  The Cook Islands is on my wish list of where to go next.  Overseas adventures are so fun, but my favourite holidays are definitely in my caravan with my family.  We love our regular trips to Wilson’s Prom, Lorne and Torquay.

I enjoy the simple camping lifestyle! Relaxing and spending quality time with great friends is the best.

Are you an early bird or a night owl?

I would say a night owl!  I do enjoy a sleep in on the weekends!

What might someone be surprised to know about you?

I love a loud car sing-a-long with my daughters. Taylor Swift and Disney classics are some of our favourite tunes to belt out!

What recently made you smile?

I smile every single day working with Miss Evins and Mrs Lee.  Teaching Prep can be very busy, but we always support each other and have lots of laughs together.  Our morning exercises and dancing is a great way to start the day with some positive energy.

If you could swap places for a day, who would you choose?

I would love to swap places with my cat Boo.  She spends her day sleeping in the sunshine and being spoilt with cuddles and pats!

What would you like to say to the students at BNPS?

Putting your best effort into your learning is important but I believe that the greatest thing you can do is to be kind!  I am so proud when I see my students, past and present, being caring, thoughtful and a great friend to others.
