National Sorry Day

Every year on 26th May, National Sorry Day remembers and acknowledges the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, which we now know as ‘The Stolen Generations’.

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

Our FIRE Carrier leaders have planned many events to take place next week including a whole school Walk for Reconciliation, where students and teachers will walk around the oval learning about and celebrating our shared history and culture. The FIRE Carriers will also deliver learning opportunities in the school library at lunch time for students to take part in. These activities include drawing with Aboriginal symbols, reading of Aboriginal story books, bracelet making and colouring in competition.
