Italian - Foundation

In Foundation this week we embarked on an enchanting journey as we delved into the world of Pinocchio in Italian. Our learning experience involved listening to the classic story of a wooden puppet who dreamt of becoming a real boy. Immersing the students in the captivating tale of Pinocchio enhanced the students’ listening comprehension skills, vocabulary acquisition, and cultural understanding of this beloved Italian story. The students interacted with each other repeating some famous Italian expressions, such as “Mamma Mia” from the story and engaged in hands-on activities such as creating Pinocchio cut outs. There was excitement when each student was given a special Pinocchio pencil straight from Italy. This special item will serve as a reminder of our journey through the story and the Italian language. Students can proudly use their Pinocchio pencil for writing and drawing, symbolizing their engagement and enthusiasm in learning about Pinocchio.

Year 1/2  and Year 2/3

A Very Special Show and Tell

On Tuesday, the Year 1/2s, Year 2/3s and the Foundation students were fortunate enough to be visited by the grandmother of two of our students. With her, Bernie had five amazing butterflies that she and the girls have watched grow from small eggs, to crawly caterpillars, to chrysalis and finally to big, beautiful, orange and black butterflies.

Thank you Bernie for answering all of our questions and allowing us the opportunity to see your beautiful butterflies!

Year 3/4

Over the last couple of weeks the students have been learning about the properties of 3D objects. They have been learning about the faces, edges, vertices and the base shape. Some students can even tell you what a Polyhedron is.

The students had a variety of 3D objects and had to categorise them. They were able to categorise them by polyhedron / non polyhedron;  triangle based / square based pyramids and prisms / pyramids.
