Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart School Community,

Prayer

As our country prepares to vote in a referendum later this year on the Indigenous Voice to Parliament, we pray that the process, debate and discussion be a time of coming together rather than divisiveness.

Feast of the Sacred Heart

"One Heart Many Faces"

The Feast of the Sacred Heart will be celebrated on Sunday 18th June with the 10.30am parish Mass and food and refreshments served after in our school multi purpose room.

We would love to see many families join us on this special occasion. Our students will be involved in the Mass, with our school choir singing and students performing other tasks during the celebration.

The Feast of the Sacred Heart this year will celebrate the rich diversity within our parish and school community, "One Heart Many Faces". We invite our students and parents if they wish, to wear their national dress as they did on Harmony Day earlier this year.

The parish social committee is also inviting any our students to perform a song/dance etc in the multi purpose room as part of the entertainment during refreshments. Gloyne father of Glendon, Tazlyn and Jazlyn would be very happy to hear from any such students.

Goodstart Early Learning Centre Visit

Our Year Five and Six students visited the Goodstart early Learning Centre in Dalgety Street Preston earlier this week. School Nurse

The Victorian Primary School Nursing Program is a free health assessment service offered by the Department of Education and Training to all children during their first year of primary school and for children enrolled in years 1 to 6 upon referral.

The School Nursing Program provides a high level of service including:

  • Responding to identified parent / carer concerns via a telephone consultation.
  • Consulting with Foundation teachers to identify any health or wellbeing concerns and building teacher capacity to respond to health and wellbeing challenges in the Foundation student cohort prior to the Nurse visit.
  • Providing guidance on accessing appropriate community healthcare services, supports and referral pathways.
  • Providing a written response to the completed health questionnaire via email or a letter to families.
  • Provision of informative resources relating to identified parental concerns.

A visit to our school has been scheduled for early Term 3.

If you have a child in Years One to Six and have concerns about a perceived health issue eg. sight, hearing etc. please contact me so I can organise a consult with the school nurse when she visits next term.

School Beanies

A reminder that our school beanies are available from the uniform shop at the great price of $15.00.

Enrolments

Enrolments for our Foundation 2024 class close on Friday 9th June. We have a closing date so that preparations can commence for our new students transition to school and forming their class. If we still have positions after the closing date, enrolments will be accepted. If you know of any one who is looking for a school for their child to commence their education in 2024, let them know about Sacred Heart.
