Library

Howdy all,

I hope you've managed to enjoy some beautiful sunshine on this glorious Thursday.

A couple of requests from your fav library 😉

  • Do you enjoy covering books? Do you derive satisfaction from seeing these word packages sealed and protected from the (accidental) harms that may befall them? If you are vigorously nodding your head, then you're in luck! I'm currently drowning in books and need a few people who would be happy to help out. Even if you have no experience covering books (but have harboured a secret desire to do so), come along. I'll give a quick demo, then give you all the materials you'll need to take home for an hour or so of quiet bliss. It's an occasional job so not too onerous. Come see me (Wed-Fri), and we'll make a start.
  • The classroom library, situated in the Mannerlong   building is in need of some TLC. If you have one free morning or arvo a week ( 1 hour should be heaps), and you'd like to help maintain this space we'd be delighted to have your help. I'll run through what needs to happen when I have a few people on board.

Email me at library@carltonnthps.vic.edu.au

Thanks,

Kim

IDAHOBIT

Next Wednesday the 17th of May is International Day Against LGBTQIA+ Discrimination.

Why IDAHOBIT is still important today?

  • 68% of LGBTQIA+ employees in Australia are not out to everyone at work. (Out at Work, 2018)
  • 2 in 3 LGBTQIA+ youth experience abuse due to their identity.
  • 35% of LGBTQIA+ Australians have experienced verbal abuse in the past 12 months.

On Wednesday May 17,  you and your children are invited  to dress as rainbow as you can and join millions of people around the world and go rainbow against LGBTQIA+ discrimination.

Have you thought of helping out on a school sub-committee or working group?

Hello everyone!

A few families have asked how they can contribute at school.

Now we have all had a bit of a chance to recover from our wonderful Lee St Fete, we thought it might be a good time to send out details about the sub-committees and working groups that help make our school tick.

Currently, seven groups meet regularly and contribute to different aspects of our school.

  1. Policy and education subcommittee: input into school policies and student learning

  1. Buildings and grounds subcommittee: input into maintenance and new works.

  1. Finance subcommittee: input into financial monitoring and processes.

  1. Fundraising subcommittee: organising events to raise money (e.g. fete, trivia night, art show and others).

  1. Wellbeing and Inclusion subcommittee: provides advice and support around access and equity issues.

  1. Reconciliation Action Plan working group: input to ensure learning on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culture is embedded.

  1. 150th birthday working group: organising our school’s 150th birthday this year (July).

The dates for each sub-committee meeting are below.

If you have any questions or have any time to attend regular meetings – please reach out to Rachel, Jane, Bec or Kylie.
