Year 11 Biology Camp
On Thursday, 4th September, the Year 9 Elective French class went into Melbourne for the ACMI International Film Festival. The film selected this year was called 'De Toutes Nos Forces' (The Finishers). This was a fictionalised story inspired by the amazing Boston Marathon efforts of Dick and Rick Hoyt - a father and son team in which the son has severe cerebral palsy. 'De Toutes Nos Forces' developed the themes of family healing and growing together through the shared goal of a young man coming of age and exerting his independence despite his physical handicaps. Set in the beauty of the French Alps, it was an unforgettable movie. (Available on DVD)
Afterwards, the class went on a French Treasure Hunt through the 'Little Paris' end of Melbourne, sampling authentic French crepes, patisseries, and seeing a number of French based companies which are active in our own capital city. Magnifique!

Year 9 French Excursion
Visiting Phillip Island to study seals, penguins, mangroves, sea birds, koalas, sand dunes and the animals and plants living in rock pools was all part of the fun for 32 biology students last week. Beautiful weather, wonderful students, great staff and really nice accommodation at CYC Cowes made the experience memorable.

VCE Matters
One of the most important things that students
can do to help reduce stress levels and
workloads in the weeks leading up to the final
exams (as well as maximise examination scores) is to make a solid start in their exam preparations over the Term 3 school holidays.
VCE students completing a Year 12 exam are encouraged to:
• Use their holidays to get on top of their studies and prepare for exams
• Attend subject lectures (this will help prepare students for exams and usually give a comprehensive set of notes that cover
examinable knowledge).
• Follow a study timetable over the 2 week period that will help them focus on studies and allow time for recreation.
• Complete a minimum of 5 practice exams (see VCAA website for past exams and answers).
Happy studying!

The MVC is a group of 44 educational facilities in our region that offer VET courses to students from Year 10 up.
From 2015, students from BHCS will be able to undertake VET studies at one of the participating organisations. In addition, we are offering students from other schools the opportunity to come to BHCS to undertake studies in Kitchen Operations.
