From the Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians

Yesterday you would have received  a letter outlining the class structure for 2021. I thank the Parish Education Board for their assistance and guidance with this. There was a great deal of  thought and planning behind the decision. As mentioned if you have any questions please let me know.

Also at the last Parish Education Board meeting the change to the new governance model for all catholic schools was outlined by Fr John.  Below you will find a transcript from Cath News outlining  the changes. These changes will not have an affect on the close working relationship between the Parish and School here at St Bede's

The change in governance arrangements will see all 293 schools owned by the Archdiocese, its parishes or associations of parishes in the Archdiocese of Melbourne transferred to Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Ltd (MACS).

“Building on the significant legacy of parish priest-led and governed schools, MACS will usher in a new era for Catholic education in the Archdiocese,” Archbishop Comensoli said.

“Education is integral to the mission of the Catholic Church to proclaim the Good News, and Catholic schooling forms our young people so they may be equipped with the knowledge, skills and hope to live meaningful lives and enrich the world around them.

“The establishment of MACS is a necessary and constructive change to the operations for schools that not only reflects community expectations about the operations of schools, but keeps our Christ-centred mission at the heart of all we do in Catholic education.”

Archbishop Comensoli announced that Catholic Education Melbourne will also move to MACS, with recently announced Executive Director of Catholic Education Melbourne, Mr Jim Miles, to serve as MACS Executive Director.

MACS will officially begin its governance responsibilities on January, 1 2021

All Saints

This Sunday is All Saints day

"All Saints' Day is a solemn holy day of the Catholic Church celebrated annually on November 1. The day is dedicated to the saints of the Church, that is, all those who have attained heaven."

At tomorrow's assembly this significant day in our church's' year will be celebrated

Crossing

The water works on Marwal Avenue were completed last week  so it is now the appropriate  time to remind all our families  of the importance of remaining safe at all times.

I ask that all families

  • Use the crossing to cross the road on  Marwal Avenue (Angela our wonderful crossing person is there to assist).
  • Use the lights at the top of Severn St to cross the road
  • Be respectful of our neighbors  (not using their driveways etc)
  • Only park in the permitted area  ( please check the signs)
  • keep your social distancing
  • keep the area on either side of the crossing clear so easy access for all users.

Book Week

A reminder to all families that tomorrow is our Book Week parade. Children are encouraged to dress as a character from a favourite book and may be inspired by this year's Book Week theme, 'Curious Creatures, Wild Minds'.

School Photos

Our school photos are booked for Monday 16th November. All photos will be taken outside ( group and individual).  Luckily all hairdressers are back in operation!!!!

Children are to wear their summer uniform.
