Will your child be at LPPS next year?

So that we are able to plan with a greater degree of accuracy, we need to know if you are not returning to LPPS next year.  Would you please inform us (letter or email would be great) as soon as possible if your circumstances are changing?   The more information we have the better we are able to plan.  Thanks for your support!

Book Fair

What a fantastic response we have had to our Book Fair.  It was wonderful to see the smiles on our kid's faces as they looked at the many books on offer.  Thank you for your support of the Book Fair, and a big thank you to Audrey for her wonderful organisation.

World Teacher's Day

On Friday 30th October, our school community will come together to celebrate World Teachers’ Day and recognise the continued dedication and support our teachers provide to our students. This year World Teachers’ Day has the theme ‘Teachers: leading in crisis, reimagining the future.’ This theme reflects the continued commitment teachers have made to their students as education leaders, throughout the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

While this year has been difficult for us all, World Teachers’ Day is a great way to say thank you to our teachers for their support and efforts in helping students adapt during this challenging time.

Facebook

Please make sure that you have a look on our school's Facebook page.  We are updating information and highlighting some of the fantastic things that we do at school.  Our virtual assemblies will now be posted on FB.

Book Week

This week we have celebrated Book Week. We have had a fantastic week of celebrating our favourite books as well as all the new titles that have been nominated for this year’s Children’s Book of the Year Awards. Our Book Character Dress-Up Day was celebrated today. It was great to see our favourite book characters come to life.  In true Launch style, the kids were resourceful and creative without feeling the need to go to any great expense for their costume. Please see page 3 of this newsletter for some great photos.

Parent Opinion Survey

The annual Parent Opinion Survey is now open for parents to complete from October 12 to November 13. Every year at this time, families are invited to participate in this DET generated survey which explores a wide range of issues and key performance areas of a school. It provides an opportunity for every family to contribute comments on what they like, or what they might like to change at the school.  The use of opinion data to monitor school performance and guide future directions is a very important step towards making our school the best it can possibly be.  For many years we have conducted annual and anonymous opinion surveys for staff, children and parents and we use the information to drive school improvements.  The results from all surveys are analysed and discussed at school council and considered by the leadership team, staff and the DET. Of course you don’t have to wait to be invited to offer your feedback. If ever you’d like to share your thoughts, ideas or opinions with us, we encourage you to contact the school.

Lost Property

Whilst we have only been back for a short time, our Lost Property is already overflowing! PLEASE make sure anything your child brings or wears to school is clearly named. Every item of named clothing tends to make its way back to its owner. In fact our wonderful staff do a great job of emptying the bins and returning items to their rightful owner. However, we cannot guarantee this for unnamed items.

Please place the responsibility of looking after all jumpers, drink bottles, hats and lunchboxes on to the kids. With some regular reminders we are confident they will rise to this expectation.

Transitions

Term 4 is a critical period, particularly for the children moving from kindergarten into Prep, from Grade 6 into Year 7, and those in Year 12 moving into employment or further education and training. Students in other year levels will also prepare for a change of teachers and new classmates. A key focus of Term 4 will be to make every effort to ensure each of these end-of-year and beginning-of-year transitions occur as successfully as possible. This includes finding contextually appropriate ways to conduct orientations and end-of-year celebrations and ensuring transition information captures additional details as necessary.

Breakfast Club

A reminder that Breakfast Club is up and running again.  It will operate every Tuesday and Thursday morning.  Cereals, fruit and baked beans will be on offer.  A big thank you to our awesome ES staff who volunteer to run Breakfast Club.

'No Hat No Play'

Just a reminder for families that students need to wear hats when outside as per our Sun Smart Policy from September. This means that all students must have their hat when returning to school for term 4. It’s also a good reminder and habit for children at home to wear a hat when playing outside. Please note that your child must have their LPPS hat when at school. No other hats can be worn.

Parent Occupations

Student information forms have been sent home. Please check over and update any information that needs to be updated especially your occupation details. Please return as soon as possible. If you become unemployed, change your job title or return to work please update the form that has been sent home and return to the school. Thank you.

Final Word

What a fabulous start to term 4 we have had. Our Launch Kids have done a wonderful job at getting up and ready to be at school on time! We have been so impressed by their punctuality and the smiles on their faces. Thank you for supporting your kids so well and getting them back into a healthy school routine.
