The school has been buzzing with production excitement! On Monday and Tuesday, the Year 5 and 6 students were busy filming their scenes for the production. They admired artwork in an expensive gallery, danced at a Latin music festival, and even learnt some karate moves. On Thursday, the whole school was moving and grooving to the production finale song. The recording sessions have been great fun and we can't wait to share the production film with you. More details to come!
We spoke to some more of the performers, who will share some of their excitement with you!
Axl
The role that I’m playing in production is about a boy who visits a music festival. We have been able to work with a lot of other people and have a lot of fun. I had to do a voiceover for my scene, but I also am part of a group of main characters – we talked with each other to improve on our performance.
My part has a lot of music, so my clue for what to expect in production is: music.
Jaime
My role is about me with a few other friends, and we are in Sweden and we want to know how we can get to the supermarket faster. For my scene we had to be in a lot of thick clothes. I also did a voiceover, and work with the main cast of characters. I really like rehearsing my lines because I’m a bit of an organisation freak and I like to memorise them as much as I can.
My clue for what to expect in production is: Make sure you get the milk on time!
Arjan
For my role in the musical I am in a scene where I play a younger version of Axl’s character. I go to a music festival and I get lost, and then I end up on the stage and dance with the band. We had to rehearse a lot and then we filmed it. We had to do about 15 takes to get all the shots we needed. I really like getting a chance to have a part. The younger year levels are doing a big song, but they don’t have a lot of chances to do individual parts, so I feel lucky. My clue for what to expect for production is: Mexican hats!
Bella
My role is that I walk around an art gallery and I see lots of different paintings and then I see one painting that is special. I had to walk to different paintings and then walk to the special painting. We rehearsed about 4 times and then we filmed it. It was really exciting – I had to make sure I walked to the spots on the set. There were lots and lots of people in my scene. I love having a role in production because I get to perform in front of lots of different people. My clue for what to expect in the production is: lots and lots of paintings!
Ruby
I play one of the students. I read a monologue and we have been practicing and have recorded our draft monologues. It has been really fun to work on it. It has been fun to do it ourselves (for our group and monologue scenes) and to work with students from our classes. We started by meeting up every week and at first we were editing the script and switching some of the lines and roles around and then we started practicing the script. Next we recorded our monologues and got some ideas down for the monologues and the scenes they go with. In my scene, I am in a karate class. My clue for what to expect is: It will be different but fun!
Can you work out some of what the production will be about from this sequence of pictures?
