Every Friday after lunch the 5/6’s participate in a sports afternoon. The past few weeks we have played Crab Soccer, Soccer, Tangan and Newcomb. We interviewed some students that participated: Brodie, Eden, Luca, Archie and Oscar.
What is one positive about the afternoons?
Eden: We were practicing our team work
Archie: That we get to go outside and get some vitamin C.
Oscar: We get out of school work.
What's something you looked forward to going to the next sports afternoon?
Eden: I’m looking forward to volleyball
Archie: Versing the next class and flogging them.
Brodie: Playing sport.
Are there any funny stories about sports in the afternoon?
Luca: I ripped his pants playing crab soccer
Brodie: One time when I was paying Tangan I fell and tripped over.
Archie: So, one time I was playing soccer with Noah and I kicked the ball and hit him in the head.
Oscar: A funny story is that Mitchell kept getting the ball out.
For week 6 and 7 our PBIS blitz has been keeping our school yard neat and tidy. Some classes have been extremely generous with tidying up around the front of their area and keeping it clean. Mrs Loughran thinks that people need a bit more of a reminder to clean around their area and not walk past things that are not neat and tidy.
‘Never see a need without doing something about it.’ Mary MacKillop
Nicole thinks the ⅚ area has looked much nicer because usually the wind blows the rubbish in, but the kids have been tidying it up making it look like a much more pleasant place.
James has taken a walk around the school to have a look at the rubbish and he has noticed that it’s not as good as it could be. One way we can fix this is to remember to put your rubbish in the bin and not go out to the oval to eat. We must remember that the oval is for a playing place not to stuff our rubbish there. As long as we do this, our school will be looking much better.

On the 29th of November the season of Advent starts. It is a season that goes on for 4 Sundays. Advent is the first season of the Church year, and leads us up to Christmas, the day Jesus was born. Working up to Advent, people tend to do an Advent calendar. It counts down the days to Christmas. They include things such as chocolate, Lego etc. The 5/6's are currently making Advent calendars on Random Acts of Kindness.
This video has an easy explanation of what advent is and what it is about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eC0FGQLBp7w
