Mr Butts' Announcements

Founder's Day
On Monday we will be celebrating Founder's Day when we recognise the Sister's of Mercy who started St Mary's Primary School Mooroopna in 1936. The quote on the image above is one that Catherine McAuley (founder of the order) was famous for and the source of our school motto - Let Your Light Shine. The Sister's of Mercy still work around the world today giving assistance to vulnerable people who need help such as asylum seekers, women in need and the homeless. Celebrating their legacy not only reminds us of the importance of being compassionate, but also guides us to be more like Jesus each day.
Farewell Raelene!
After over 30 years of dedicated service, our much loved Crossing Supervisor Raelene Ferrari is retiring. We thank her for her commitment to keeping our students safe and her friendly nature. We wish her every blessing in her retirement. Enjoy the sleep ins Raelene!
Prep Transition
It has been wonderful to see our 2021 Prep students visiting the school in preparation for beginning next year. Thank you to the teachers Mrs Cox, Mrs Davkovski and Mrs Cimera for organising the sessions and ensuring the program runs so smoothly.
Grade Transition
All other students have been spending time getting to know their teaching areas and classrooms for 2021. This is particularly beneficial for children moving to a new area of the school.
Name Calling
A couple of weeks ago I watched an episode of Australian Story about a little boy with Dwarfism. About a Boy tells the story of Quaden Bales who shares the challenges he faces each day of his life, which sometimes includes name calling. Please note that there is content that is not suitable for children, but parents may choose to share parts of the episode with older kids. It is a very powerful story. Thomas has been an outstanding student ever since he began in Prep and is a wonderful role model to other students by being responsible and respectful each day at school. He is a very inquisitive student, always asking questions to improve his knowledge in different subjects. Thank you Thomas for being such an influential student at St Mary's.
