Year 3 Spotlight

A Spotlight on Year 3

Year 3 students have settled well into term four and are enjoying seeing their friends' faces inside and outside the classroom. They have approached all learning areas with lots of enthusiasm and have persisted through different challenges.

Literacy

In Literacy, the students have been working on their individual reading and writing goals, during independent, small group and whole instruction.

Numeracy

In Maths, the students have been exploring the concept of fractions. We have learnt about the terms numerator and denominator, created our own fractions walls, and compared the sizes of halves, thirds, quarters, fifths and eighths.

Life-Cycles

In Inquiry, the Year 3 students are well underway with researching into the life-cycles of different animals. This research will assist them to work in a group of three to create a Claymation film about their animal’s life-cycle. Over the next few weeks, they will begin to draft their scripts, create their clay animals, design and make their sets, and learn how to use iMovie and Stop Motion on the iPad to record their films. We will finish the year with a class movie premiere to show off and share their hard work!
