School Council Report

The School Council met on 26 October 2020.

Farewell

Fairfield Primary has said goodbye to two of our school councillors since our last meeting. Daniel Emeny and Matthew Gordon have both relocated with their families and will be missed by Council and within the school community. Daniel was a driving force within council and was heavily involved in many projects, not least the famous Trivia Night fundraisers! Matthew was instrumental in our recent Community Committee survey, the results of which will provide positives steps to engagement for our community going forward. School Council thanks them both for their valuable input and wishes them well.

Community

Much of the focus of the School Council over the past couple of months has been on ways to support the school and its community throughout the challenging time we’ve had this year. We were all excited for students to be back in their classrooms this term, and all councillors would like to thank the staff and teachers at FPS for their wonderful efforts to keep the students engaged and on-track.

Around the School

It’s been exciting to watch the continued progress of the new Wingrove Street campus. Our School Council president, Bronwyn, took a tour of the new building and was very impressed with the thoughtfully designed spaces that have been created. Students will have noticed many other upgrades across the original school building since returning to school. We will also see the continued replacement of the cyclone fencing around the school over the coming months. The FPS grounds are showing the results of a lot of hard work from the administration, the Buildings & Grounds Committee and previous school councillors—it’s wonderful to see it all come together.

Your Council

As always, School Council is committed to finding ways of bringing us all together on a variety of different levels. Please do not hesitate to email your School Council representative via the school email address if you have anything you want to discuss about FPS. All school council meeting minutes are posted to the school website.
