Kids Teaching Kids (KTK) Week

St Albans Secondary College was one of hundreds of schools and more than 13,000 students across Australia who participated in the 2018 Kids Teaching Kids (KTK) Week. KTK Week proudly sponsored by Sydney Airport, the Department of Environment and Qantas is a free, national, inquiry based, peer teaching program that uses the environment as a theme for learning. The event held at University Park Primary School was financially supported by Brimbank City Council and organised by Karina King, their Environmental Education Officer. The schools in attendance included: Derrimut PS, Sunshine North PS, Overnewton Anglican Community College, Catholic Regional College (St Albans) and Caroline Chisholm College (Braybrook).  KTK Education Officer, Amy Taylor launched the event and the University Park PS school leaders did an exceptional job hosting the day.

It was exciting for the students to be part of an event where ‘kids teach kids’ about the environment. They led workshops on sustainability topics that are important to them and their local community.

A sincere thank you to SASC teacher, Mrs Tuyet Duong for her support and encouragement at the event.

Kids Teaching Kids is a truly, inspiring program and our Year 9 Advance students were inspiring environmental leaders and did St Albans SC proud.
