What is your role at the Concord School?

I am a teacher in Secondary Year 11/12.  I will be the Teaching Learning Leader for years 11/12 in 2016.

 

Provide us with a ‘snapshot’ into your daily routine at Concord School.

I teach an Applied Learning Group and we are often out and about in the community working and volunteering.  We catch public transport all over Melbourne which gives the students a knowledge of travelling independently.

 

What do you love most about working at Concord School?

I like helping the students to become confident responsible adults to be ready for their future after they leave Concord School.

 

Favourite Food:

My favourite food is French cuisine. 

 

Favourite Movie/TV Show:

Slum Dog Millionaire is my favourite movie.

 

Favourite music:

I love Pop music. 

 

Hidden Talent or Something We May Not Know About You:

I used to work in a factory stuffing cushions and I was very good at it.

 

Favourite Sporting Team/Athlete:

I enjoy tennis and my favourite athlete is Novak Djokovic.

 

If You Could Pick Any 2 People as Dinner Guests, Who Would They Be and Why?

I like people who make me laugh so I would invite Sheldon Cooper (Big Bang Theory) and Karl Stefanovik (nine networks breakfast show).

 

Meet the Volunteer

Name: 

Viv Butler

What is your role at the school:

I am a volunteer,Treasurer for the Family and Friends Association and also ex President.  I am also the treasurer of Concord School Council and Grandmother to a current year 11 student and and ex student who finished year 12 in 2014.  I have been volunteering at Concord school for 13 years.

Tasks I do at school:

I cover library books, work in the Art Room and Food Technology Room with year 11/12 students.  I make muffins for the school canteen to sell, do sewing for the discovery centre and also for the year 7/8 Secondary Spectacular that is held every year.  I work in the classroom with two numeracy classes, organise and run the hot dog days and cater for special events in the school such as staff morning teas  and help the family and friends commitee organise the christmas Concert BBQ. I am always available for any other jobs that are asked of me thrughout the school.  

 

Favourite Food:

I enjoy cooking all different foods with my grandsons on a Friday night, we cook a meal from a different country each week.  

 

If You Could Pick Any 3 People as Dinner Guests, Who Would They Be and Why?

I would invite three homeless people.
