Science - Ms Foley

Science Term 1 2022

It has been so wonderful to have all our classes back into the swing of school and science this term! Our Prep students have really enjoyed coming up to the science room,  familiarising themselves with our routine and the different equipment we use. Together we have been investigating the weather. We have been collecting weather data, developing weather symbols and have discovered that the weather can affect our daily lives (especially Melbourne weather!).

Our Year One/Two students have been investigating changes that occur in the sky and on land. We have looked at our local landscape and discovered that landscapes can have many different features including, natural, managed and constructed. We have also discovered that our sky is constantly changing and have been investigating the sun's path in the sky and the appearance of the moon and the stars at night!

Our Year Three/Four students have been investigating how the Sun, Earth and Moon interact. We have enjoyed using Google Earth to inquire and ask questions about our Earth, Sun and Moon!

Our Five/Six students been investigating our key inquiry question  ‘How does the Earth compare to other planets in the solar system?’ Through our investigations we have developed our own rhymes to learn the planets names in order from the sun.  We have also become travel experts developing travel plans to different planets and have been calculating the time it would take to complete these journeys.
