Performing Arts

Happy Autumn!

It's hard to believe we are in the second half of the term already.

Co-curricular programs are humming along nicely in Performing Arts.

1. Creative Music in Schools

We are continuing to take enrolments in singing, piano/keyboard and violin. Your daughter can have lessons at school, learning on her own or in pairs. The lesson is the same day each week, but the time changes throughout the day to avoid missing the same class. Students can enrol anytime. If you are interested in learning more there is an information brochure that can be collected from the Performing Arts Office.

2. Choirs and Ensembles

Our Performing Arts Captain Cynthia Negash has organised a concert featuring Performing Arts teachers and Choir/Ensemble leaders. The planned date is Friday 1 April at lunchtime in the Auditorium. More information will appear in the Notices section of Seqta.

3. Legally Blonde!

This show was originally cast in Term 4 of 2019, with rehearsals and a show run planned for 2020. The show was put on hold and resumed in 2021 but again we needed to postpone. We had planned a run at the end of this term, but as we began 2022 it was clear that omicron was going to affect our plans. After consultation with the students we are not performing the full show as a show. Instead we will be the feature act in this semester's Performing Arts Showcase. We will be performing one of the great duet pieces and a showstopping chorus number. We'll be wearing the Legally Blonde t-shirts that were featured last year, and the act will include some movement and dialogue, using some of the sets and props we had prepared. We are planning a Schools Matinee performance of the showcase, and 1 or more lunchtime performance of the Legally Blonde bracket depending on restrictions so we can perform for students.
