Level 3/4

We have had a great couple of weeks in level 3! In our Writing sessions we have been learning how to write persuasive texts. We have explored some of the persuasive devices that authors use to change the reader’s mind. It has been great to hear all the different opinions and reasoning! In our Reading sessions we have explored different strategies to help us understand what we read. We have set our reading goals that we will work towards for the rest of the term. In Maths, we have been continuing our work on place value, as well as identifying benchmark numbers.

In Level 4, for Writing, we have started to learn about the writing process and what to do to help improve our writing pieces. We have also started to have a go at using these skills to write a Persuasive Writing piece. We have begun by brainstorming our ideas. We also had a go at writing about our excursion this week. In Reading, we continued to working on our independent reading skills. We have focused on using the skills of self-monitoring and backing up and re-reading. For Maths, we have been continuing our work on Place Value, Maths Mindsets and Odd and Even numbers. We have been working to enhance our thinking around Maths and investigating the properties of Odd and Even numbers.

Level 4 students have continued learning about Cyber Safety by addressing who it is we know online and what information is suitable to be shared with different people. We have also been lucky enough to go on an excursion this week. The Level 4 students all participated in a Water Safety Day at Aquanation. We all headed off to the pool and spent the day rotating through five different workshop activities about water safety. Some of our activities included learning about how to swim safely at the beach and having a go at wearing life jackets. There was also lots of fun to be had on the water slides, inflatables and equipment at Aquanation.

Level 3 and 4 have continued participating in 3/4 Sport and have finished our final rotations of athletics. We have had plenty of practice for our upcoming school athletics carnival!  Outside the classroom we have also been doing cross country training three times a week. It has been great to see everyone challenging themselves and building up their stamina in preparation for the school cross country. In addition to this, we have had the opportunity to participate in the SEDA Cricket Clinics and it was fantastic to see everyone participating. These sessions and clinics have been a fantastic addition to our regular Physical Education lessons and have given us a chance to advance and develop our skills.
