Principal's Report
Flexible. Resilient. Positive. 2022
It has been an eventful and fabulous fortnight here at Rangeview. Level 6 are continuing their term of Martial Arts Therapy - Life Skills and are already starting to use some of the language in their interactions. Be strong, Be calm, Be kind, Try hard! Congratulations to our Levels 3 - 6 students who competed at the District Swimming Carnival - Rangeview was very successful. We hosted our termly community of practice meeting with our RRRR partner schools where we discussed all of our plans for Respectful Relationships for 2022. Watch out for our first installation of a Gratitude Tree in the school foyer. Our Senior Assembly out on the grassphalt was an opportunity to award the Junior School Council badges and it was so wonderful to have parents attend this in person! Kate McLeod, Liam Sommers and I, all attended a virtual Principal Forum where we joined hundreds of Principals across the Region. Staff participated in professional learning on the Resilience Project and our annual training for Child Safety and Mandatory Reporting. Our whole school is looking forward to the Foundation students in the Harry Hat Man Parade this Friday at 2pm.
Regional Principal Forum
Kate, Liam and I attended (virtually) the Regional Principal Forum on Friday 25th February. The theme was Adaptability for Excellence and we joined over 400 Principals across the region to hear from David Howes, the Deputy Secretary of Education, and keynote speakers - Dr Ryan Dunn, Senior Lecturer Melbourne University, and Kristen Douglas, National Manager Headspace Schools. Dr. Dunn spoke on Leading and Sustaining Improvement in Complex Times and Ms. Douglas spoke on what she has termed - Social Emotional Relational Leadership. We were encouraged to move forward with moral purpose with an innate sense of what is right and what is worthwhile. We were also encouraged to build further on the optimistic mood as we move beyond the hanging on or survival mode we have experienced during covid. We were reminded that the social capitol of our school is the biggest asset that we have to recovering, healing and getting back to optimal function. As a leadership team, we are looking forward to Leaning In to 2022!
Parents Social Soiree
I would like to invite all parents and carers to the Rangeview Social Soiree on Wednesday 23rd March at 7pm in the Library. This social event will be an opportunity to catch up with other parents and make connections and we will have a short presentation on our Parents & Friends group and the Fathering Project. There will be no commitment required on the night - only conversation! (note - this is a kid free event)
Bookings essential via Trybooking :
School Photos
Our annual school photo day is coming up on Tuesday 15th March. You should have received the unique order code for your child as a flyer sent home last Friday. You can go to www.schoolpix.com.au to order. Sibling photos will be taken on this day also.
Level 2 Hub
We have now heard back from the Victorian Schools Building Authority (VSBA) around the damage to the Level 2 Hub - top entry. We can now move forward with repairs after the flooding at the start of term with new drainage to be installed and replacement carpet the the central hub space. We apologise to our Level 2 families - the delay was out of our hands.
