Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to the 2023 school year. It was great seeing so many families at the Welcome Picnic earlier this week, especially those families new to the Clifton Hill Primary School community. I would like to welcome Stella Song and Guilaine André to our LOTE team this year. We also welcome back Lizzie Rennie and Rebecca Heery.

Thank you again to our 2022 Fair committee for bringing back our annual fair - the Big Play Out. Over the holidays we were able to use fundraised money to replace the flooring in the MPR and MPR toilets. The new surfaces will make a huge difference to our school environment.

Last week Susan and I enjoyed a night out with four grade two students; Evie, Hendrix, Harrison and Nell. They were the winners of the "Party with the Principals" auction prize from the 2022 Trivia night. We all thoroughly enjoyed bowling, laser tag and a tasty dinner afterwards. Congratulations to Harrison for winning the bowling with a score of 88!

The grade 5 and 6 campus is progressing well. I am pleased to let you know that we will definitely move into the new building later this year. I look forward to being able to provide regular updates as we move closer to completion.

CURRICULUM DAY (STUDENT FREE)

Our next curriculum day will be Wednesday 1st March.  This will be a parent-teacher information session. TeamKids will operate on this day.

SCHOOL PHOTOS

School photos will be held on Friday 3rd March. Sibling photos and graduation photos will take place later in the school year.

SCHOOL COUNCIL 2023

Details for the School Council elections for 2023 was sent to families via Compass on Tuesday 7th February. I encourage all parents and carers to consider putting themselves forward. We will need all hands-on deck to offer our fundraising and community events again in 2023.

AMBULANCE COVER

Families are reminded that the Department does not provide personal accident insurance or ambulance cover for students. Parents and guardians of students, who do not have student accident insurance/ambulance cover, are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injured students, including the cost of ambulance attendance/transport and any other transport costs.

PERSONAL INSURANCE

Personal property is often brought to school by students and visitors. This can include mobile phones, calculators, toys and sporting equipment. As the Department does not hold insurance for personal property brought to schools and has no capacity to pay for any loss or damage to such property, students and visitors are discouraged from bringing any unnecessary or particularly valuable items to school.

PRIVACY POLICY

Our school collects, uses, discloses and stores student and parent personal information for standard school functions or where permitted by law, as stated in the Schools’ Privacy Policy. Please take time to familiarise yourself with the Department of Education and Training's Schools' Privacy Policy which can be viewed on our school website (www.cliftonhillps.vic.edu.au).

SUPERVISION OF STUDENTS BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL

A reminder that there is no supervision for students prior to 8:45am and we request that parents/carers do not drop their children off until 8:45am.  This is for your child’s safety. Students found in the yard prior to 8:45am will be sent to the office or to TeamKids. We also ask that if you know you are going to be late to collect your child that you let the office know.  That way we can have children wait in the classroom or at the office until your arrival.  If you are going to be more than 10 minutes late, we ask that you contact TeamKids to make a booking.

SCHOOL POLICIES

There are a number of key policies that can be accessed on the school website (www.cliftonhillps.vic.edu.au).  We encourage you to familiarise yourself with policies such as:

  • SunSmart and Extreme Heat Policy
  • Anaphylaxis Policy
  • Mobile Phone Policy
  • Child Safety Policy
  • Volunteer Policy
  • Bullying Policy
  • Administration of Medication Policy

I look forward to seeing you around the school.
