Dear parents,

Parent teacher interviews

We will be holding parent teacher interviews on the 21st and 22nd of February for the parents of student in Year 1 – 6.  The Front Office will be sending out more information in the coming weeks, including a “getting to know you” template that we encourage you to fill out and bring to the meetings.  The “Getting to know you” template includes a range of questions about your child's preferences and interests.  It is a great conversation start to help you child’s teacher understand them as an individual.

Our Foundation parents will have an opportunity to meet and discuss their students with the Foundation teachers after their child completes the 1:1 interviews on Wednesdays in February.

Parent Information Sessions

We will also be holding parent information sessions on the 21st and 22nd of February, this session will give parents an overview of the current and structure of the school year and give n opportunity for parents to ask questions of the teaching teams.  Details about these sessions will be circulated in the coming weeks.

Extreme Fire Danger Relocation Plan

Yesterday I visited Sunbury Heights Primary School, which is our extreme fire danger relocation school. On days of extreme fire danger as indicated by the state-wide fire danger rating system, we will contact you and confirm whether you are sending your child on this day.  We will have up to four days’ notice of an extreme fire danger day, however it could be as little as 12 hours’ notice.

If you do decide to send your child on an extreme fire danger rating day, we will mark attendance and assemble the students at the front of Macedon Primary school ready for bus relocation to Sunbury Heights PS.  We will then relocate and conduct the teaching and learning program in Sunbury on these days.  Parents will be required to pick up their children from Sunbury Heights PS at 3pm on these relocation days.  This is a proactive plan on “extreme fire danger” days.

School Council – Notice of Election

We are holding an election to fill the vacant positions on the school council for 2023/2024.  There are four parent positions and that will be vacated by the end of February. The school council is an important opportunity for parents and staff to become involved in the governance and support for the school.  The school council oversees the financial, facilities and programs such as the before and after school care, the Macedon PS pine plantation and the Farmers’ market. The school council also supports the school to operate with strong governance and transparency.  There is no special prior knowledge or experienced required for parents to be on school council and we encourage you to consider this option if you are interested.  If you would like further information please contact me, I am happy to answer any questions you have.  All of our meetings are open meetings, and we invite you to attend if you are interested is seeing how they run before you decide to nominate.  Our next meeting is on Wednesday 15th of February, please email me for the details. 

The school council membership term is two years. Below is a timeline of the election process.
