Year 2 End of Year Reflection

What a fantastic year we have had in Year 2! This has been such a special year for our Year 2s as this has been their first full year of school EVER. I have been SO impressed with their resilience, hard work and perseverance this year and how hard they have tried to challenge themselves in all learning areas.

Some of the highlights of the year have been:

  • Our excursions to the Melbourne museum, Myuna Farm and CERES
  • Making pancakes for Shrove Tuesday and ANZAC biscuits for ANZAC day
  • Writing incredible narratives based on Alison Lester’s ‘The Journey Home’ and The Fan Brothers’ ‘It fell from the sky’
  • Learning about persuasive texts and incorporating different techniques, such as alliteration, list of 3 and rhetorical questions.
  • Meeting our elf on the shelf, Snowflake and seeing the mischief it got up to each day
  • Sharing our class toy ‘Squish’ with the Star of the week in 2B and filling in our Squish scrapbook

Here’s what some of the children had to say about being in 2B:

Amitie: “My highlight this year has been doing different performances, including ‘Sleigh Ride’, ‘Blackbird’ and ‘It’s a happy day’”.

Xavier V: “I enjoyed posting my Santa letter at the post office for the first time ever. We gave our letters to the lady at the register, she stamped them and gave us Christmas stickers! The preps also came with us. It was very exciting!”

Spencer: “One of my favourite things that we did this year was going to Myuna Farm because there were lots of animals and we got to hold them!”

Salvador: “I enjoyed having the best teacher in the world!”

Rupert: “My favourite thing about 2B was my teacher, Miss Bascombe! I also loved having all of my friends.”

It has been such a pleasure watching the Year 2s grow, thrive and mature in 2022 and I wish them all the best of luck moving into the senior school!
