Learning at Joey's

Last weeks pupil free day saw staff travel to Glen Innes for a Professional Development day on the elements of VCOP (Vocabulary, Connectives, Openers and Punctuation) and Big Write. Teachers at St Joseph’s have been using VCOP and Big Write in their classroom in recent years, and new staff to St Joseph’s this year now have an opportunity to build on this to improve the student’s writing. Your son or daughter may come home with some ‘Home Talk’ tasks where they are asked to talk to someone they know; mum dad, nan, pop, or the dog about what they have been learning and an upcoming class writing task. The Koala room visited Pioneer Village last Wednesday as part of their History learning ‘Past and Present.’ They had a good look into the olden days, played some games and compared life now to then.
