What's the BUZ - From the Chaplain's Desk
It has been a busy first half of the year in BUZ!
Our Year 1/2 students have recently finished the BUZ Today program. They have been learning how to manage emotions in healthy ways, how to sort out problems like disagreements they may have with peers using the BUZ Hopscotch for Solving Problems and going through our Bully Proofing strategies so they can be more resilient. Throughout the program we read some great books, sing some Build Up Zone songs, complete activities in our booklets and play some games that help support our learning. Some highlights students shared with the class were the stories and having a sing with Mable (AKA, Mrs Nixon on guitar).
In the Year 5/6 classroom we have completed our BUZ Hope program which is our grief loss and change program. Did you know that research has shown that every child by the age of 9 has had to deal with some kind of grief, loss, or change in their lives? It could be a significant event like moving house or schools, a family separation, the loss of a loved one or even the loss of a beloved pet. In BUZ Hope we refer to these events as storms we experience in life and, as with all storms the sun will always come out and shine again. Throughout the program we look at the strategies we can utilise to help guide us through these tough times. While it might sound like a bit of a heavy topic, we still manage to have some fun along the way and enjoy some relaxing activities that can support our ability to better cope with these storms.

Triple P Positive Parenting Programs
Have you heard about Triple P Parenting programs? Sometimes kids can find it tough to manage everyday challenges. Triple P Parenting Programs provide free online training to help manage everyday challenges with positive parenting strategies. Delivery of the Triple P – Positive Parenting Program is supported by funding from the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care under the Parenting Education and Support Program. If you have a child that specifically struggles with anxiety, their ‘Fearless’ program deals specifically with this topic. I encourage you to jump online and check out the programs for yourself. https://www.triplep-parenting.net.au/au/about-triple-p/help-your-child-cope-with-challenges/
