T2 Active School Travel Breakfast

Last Friday (2 June), school staff accompanied students who walked or rode from Eddie Kornhauser Park (Lakewoods) to school as part of our participation in the Gold Coast City Council’s Active School Travel program.

Students who walked or rode to school that day (not just from Lakewoods) enjoyed a healthy breakfast thanks to the Gold Coast City Council, Tallebudgera Lions Club, 19th Avenue Woolworths and the help of many wonderful parents, staff and community volunteers.

Many families made a morning of it and walked or rode together.  We loved the community feel that morning and seeing families enjoying time with each other.

Our participation in the Active School Travel program is having a positive impact and we were thrilled to see our bike enclosure full.

School Dental Van

Gold Coast Health will be removing the mobile dental clinic tomorrow (Friday 9 June). On behalf of our school community, I would like to thank Helena and Cookie for their work helping our families. It has been a pleasure having them in our school and we look forward to seeing them here again next year.

Parents and carers can access other mobile dental clinics to make an appointment by calling 1300 300 850.

Disco

We are looking forward to our disco soon.  Details of this event have been communicated on ClassDojo for parents and carers and the last day to buy tickets is tomorrow (9 June 2023).  There are no tickets for sale on the night, so pre-purchase is essential.

A huge thank you to our P&C for coordinating this event, including the Tally Together aspect that provides an opportunity for parents and carers to spend time together while their children attend the disco.  Thank you also to the many Team Tally staff members who have volunteered their time and will provide supervision of students during the disco.

Collaborative Planning

Next week, teaching teams will be provided additional time off class, working with our Curriculum Leaders to coordinate the educational programs and assessment for next term. This ensures that we have a high level of consistency and quality planning across all year levels.

Report Cards

Report cards will be emailed to parents and carers on Wednesday, 21 June and will provide an update of each student’s level of achievement, effort and behaviour.  Parents and carers will be invited to attend progress interviews with teachers early next term.

We encourage parents and carers to read and discuss report cards with their children, with a focus on the amount of effort applied.

Please update our office if you have changed your email address.

After School

We encourage all parents and carers to utilise our Drop and Go zone when collecting their children from school (except Prep parents and carers who collect from classrooms in Semester 1). This is the only school designated collection area and is supervised by staff.

New Building Works

Planning for our new building is progressing well and the timeline is being finalised.  We anticipate that work will commence late next term and details of the logistical implications will be communicated to families via ClassDojo.  Three classes will be relocated during the building phase and we have quality learning areas for them to move to when required.  By the start of next year, four modular buildings will be removed and replaced by the new building with eight classrooms.
