Sport News and Reminders
TCS Athletics Team:
SMCC athletes will compete in the TCS Athletics Carnival. This program is almost finalised and once received, the program will be sent to all athletes.
All Peninsula School Sports forms were due for submission to the Sports Department this past Monday, 10th July. Today at 3pm will be your last opportunity to submit your forms. This is a mandatory requirement from TCS. Students that have not submitted the required Peninsula paperwork will not be permitted to participate in the TCS Athletics Carnival.

JSS Sport:
Students have completed two weeks of JSS Trials and teams have been announced to all the students via their student emails. Thank you to everyone who participated. We had a great response and positive engagement from all students. The standard was great and it made the teachers selections very hard.
The JSS Competitions will commence next week (Week 2, Wednesday 19th July).
SMCC will be competing against MacKillop CC. Students are required to come dressed in their school sports uniform, wear appropriate footwear and bring any necessary sports equipment.
Students will be travelling on buses and will need to be ready to leave the College during lunch. More information will be sent to students on Monday 17th July.
Junior Sport (Year 7,8,9 students not in JSS teams):
Year 7, 8, 9 students should have completed the Junior Sport Program google form that was sent on Tuesday 11th July. This form is due to be submitted today, Friday 14th July by 3pm.
Can parents please check with your children that they have received their emails and filled in the Junior Sport Program google form.
The Junior Sports Program provides our students the opportunity to engage in the sports options, listed below, for Term 3 and Term 4 on Wednesday afternoons from1:17pm-2:57pm.
Students are expected to wear their school sports uniform, appropriate footwear and bring a hat. The Junior Sport program will to commence on Wednesday 19th July. Students will be sent to their sport group on Monday 17 July via their student email. Please ensure you check your emails daily.
Junior Sport Program sport options:
Semester 2 will see the Year 10 & 11 students engage and compete in the Interhouse Sports Competition. The Competition will commence in week 3, students will be placed into teams according to their house groups.
House Teams will compete for house points in the below sports:
Students that are not participating in the Interhouse Sports Competition have the opportunity to do Chess Club, Aspire to Teach Program, and/or Service and Justice group.
All Senior Sports teams have been sent to students and a copy is located in the Sports Department Display cabinet.
Club Netball – Undefeated Streak continues!
On Tuesday night St Mary’s took to the court for their first game of term 3 against the Sharks. St Mary’s took control from the first whistle displaying aggressive defence and consistent teamwork. Position changes did not phase the girls, who displayed no sign of a three-week break from the sport. The team convincingly won the match 34 – 9, continuing their unbeaten streak and reaching their highest goals scored for the season to date.
Our next game is at 7.30pm next Tuesday.

TCS Rugby Union 7s Girls 15-16 years trials:
TCS Cricket 10-12 Girls and 13-15 Girls:
This is a paper nomination direct to Peninsula School Sports. Invitational Combined Peninsula and Northern team.
Peninsula Schools sports has advised that the forms have not yet been released and should be available next week (week 2, term 3). Once the forms have been received, they will be emailed out to students.
St Mary’s and the Cairns Running Festival:
St. Mary's are participating in the Cairns Running Festival on Sunday July 16th!
Students, parents and community members are invited to register for their chosen race distance (2km, 5km, 10km, 21.1km, 42.2km) and join the St. Mary's team for 10% off their registration fee.

No mobile phones during Sport: This includes all sport groups travelling offsite and JSS teams. Failure to meet this expectation will result in a detention.

Please note: Our Sport program involves some groups travelling offsite therefore please avoid making appointments during Tuesday and Wednesday sport.
Parents/ carers will need to contact the College regarding any school absence due to students attending Peninsula trials which occur during school hours. TCS trials occur afterschool.
Students are reminded to collect signed Peninsula paperwork from the Sport Department staffroom to take to their TCS trials. Students will NOT be allowed to trial if they do not have this paperwork.

Students then need to report back to the HPE staffroom within 2 days to collect their signed paperwork and take the Peninsula Student Details Booklet with them to the trial.

Second half of Second Lunch: Monday – Friday
