Year 11

“Welcome to Semester 2” Morning tea

On Monday June 5, our Principal Team kindly put on a Morning Tea for our Year 11s to celebrate the beginning of Semester 2.

Ms Asta, Miss Younger and their wonderful team of helpers made delicious coffees in the LHS Cafe and Ms Colyer and Ms Stuart did an awesome job at ladling out scrumptious hot chocolate! It was hot and it was chocolate! according to Mrs Colyer.

A variety of biscuits, lamingtons and muffins were on offer, and they definitely hit the spot on a chilly morning. The Year 11s were very grateful for their morning tea!

Unit 1/2 Legal Studies

We would like to thank Monique Hawkins for providing us with the reflection of Mr Blaxland’s class on their visit to the Ringwood Magistrates Court.

“On Tuesday June 6, the Unit 1/2 Legal classes went to the Magistrate Court in Ringwood and saw many interesting cases. Some of the cases that were scheduled for the day that we observed included minor theft, stalking, family violence, drunk driving, assault and many speeding fines. The classes witnessed the cases in action. They were able to sit in the courtroom and observe the process of convicting the accused.

The staff at the Magistrates Court seemed very professional and were understanding of the accused situations no matter what crimes they have committed.  The class enjoyed observing legal areas that they have learnt being applied to real life circumstances.

Overall, the experience was memorable for the Legal Studies classes and this experience can now be applied to their lessons furthermore.”

Celebrating our VCE students

We are extremely proud of the extracurricular achievements of our VCE students. One such student is Jessica Sheridan of Year 11 who is a Mountain Bike Champion.  Jess kindly took time out of her very busy schedule to let us know about her upcoming competition. We thank Jess and wish her all the best!!

"I have been riding Downhill Mountain bikes since 2015 and was recently selected for the Australian National Team (U19 Junior Downhill Individual) - 2023 UCI World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland (3 -5 August).

I have raced 3 previous rounds in the Australian National series, needing to qualify and place in the top 5 (Under 19 women) in order to be selected for the World Championships. AusCycling has to analyse each person's points (who took part in the national series) to obtain and allocate spots for the Australian team.

The Scotland, Fort William race is part of the world series for downhill mountain bike riding, meaning that this race helps determine your world ranking overall in 2023."
