SCIENCE

Year 9 Forensic Science

During the last week of May, students created crime scenes!  They used theatrical makeup to create realistic wounds and setup their scenes and started collecting evidence to help them to solve the crime.

The skills they have learnt during the semester helped them to solve and create a final police/forensic report.

Year 8 SEALP

Bio-Eyes Incursion

Students experiment with educators from Monash University. They made a zebrafish with a pigment mutation with a wildtype zebrafish, hypothesizing on the phenotypes of the resulting embryos. This was used to introduce or review the concepts of basic Mendelian genetics, dominant and recessive traits, and Punnett squares.

Year 8 Science

This term Year 8 Science students embarked on a Human Design Centered Thinking adventure to solve the needs of hospitals or patients.

As part of this program, students visited the Yarra Ranges Tech School (YRTS) to use the technology up there to help create their prototypes, ready to present to their classes.

Students were able to use coding to code robodogs or use little bits to create circuits and electronics to assist.

Year 10 Core Science

To finish off the genetics part of the course, students designed and created their own Bee-Bops by following the genetic code they created. A great way to finish off the week!
