NEVR Youth Concert 

Congratulations Erin Allison and Tristan Dent for your wonderful performances in the Symphonic Orchestra at this year's concert, Fire + Rain! 

 

Late last month, Erin and Tristan joined students from over 300 primary and secondary state schools within the North Eastern Victoria Region to perform at Hamer Hall, a most prestigious stage. 

 

A big thank you to Mrs Ventura who attended Symphonic Band and Orchestra rehearsals as a tutor and for also supporting the students on the night.

Mid-Year Melodies Evening

On Thursday 15 June, our larger bands and ensembles performed in the Theatre at our Mid-Year concert to a fabulous audience of LHS parents and friends. Congratulations and thank you to;

Judging will be undertaken by the Performing Arts Captains, Shannon Rayner and Stacey Pepers, alongside Mr Morgan, Miss Lie and Ms Pischiutta. 

 

Bands will be judged using the following criteria:

  • Preparedness
  • Stage Presence/Confidence
  • Interaction with Audience
  • Musicality
  • Entertainment Factor

Victorian State School Spectacular

We are very excited to have 3 very talented LHS students performing in this year’s show 'Happy Travels':

  • Erin Allison (Year 12) Orchestra - Oboe
  • Madeline Coxhill (Year 11) Principal Dancer
  • Tiarna Jones (Year 7) First Nations Ensemble

Happy Travels, follows an intrepid group of hapless tourists as they traverse the globe in a cavalcade of circus mayhem. The arena audience will be amazed by giant puppets and a dazzling circus fairground with awe-inspiring aerialists, while the score will deliver music from the Pacific, Japan, Britain, Italy and Australia’s First Nations.

Welcome Matt Tzivakis!

The LHS Music Department extends a very warm welcome to our new guitar teacher who has begun teaching and conducting the Guitar Ensemble. 

 

Matt has an extensive background playing in and directing musical theatre and also brings his expertise in VCE music and knowledge of a wide variety of music styles. Good to have you with us, Matt!

LHS Instrumental Music Alumnae News

Past LHS Instrumental Music students Lily Black, David Chao, Aaron Noronha, Glen Wilson-Pine, Scott Huddleston and Gabby Bassett recently performed with the Croydon Wind Symphony as part of the Comedy Variety Spectacular at the Alan Ross Centre, Billanook College.  

 

It’s great to see and hear our students continue their enjoyment of music performance.

 

MDMS (Mountain District Musical Society), have also just finished a wonderful season of The Sound of Music at Karralyka Theatre with several of our current and former students and staff involved. 

 

Congratulations to Matt Tzivakis (Assistant Musical Director), Josh Clark (trumpet), Noah Vincent (guitar), Jess Clark (cast), Amy Cumming (Musical Director), Celeste Wells (keyboard) and Bec Clark (clarinet).
