Positive Behaviour for Learning

Positive Behaviour for Learning

This week, Term 2 Week 5, our focus in the playground is:

Top Playground - Follow adult instructions and respect property (own/others/school)

Middle Playground -  Follow adult instructions and wait your turn.

Bottom Playground -  Follow adult instructions and wear your hat.

These expectations are displayed on sandwich boards in the three playgrounds for adults and students to view as reminders.

Teachers actively supervise students in the playground by moving, scanning and interacting with them. Whilst on duty, teachers wear a brightly coloured vest, hat and carry a walkie talkie for ease of communication within the school.

Students are acknowledged for their positive behaviour when teachers talk and explicitly explain why straight away by catching them doing the right thing. Teachers tell the student specifically what they did, in a positive way, immediately and truthfully. It is fantastic to hear students reiterating what they were acknowledged for and see them following our Burke Ward expectations.
