Week 5 Term 2

From Mrs Hogg

Welcome back to all Burkies! School has not quite felt the same over the past 7 school weeks. Our teaching and learning environment changed overnight, and I am so proud of how well everyone adapted - students, staff and families.

Thank you all for your support during this time. We encourage you to return any outstanding learning that was completed at home during this time.

Staff will spend the coming weeks reconnecting and re-establishing routines and expectations in the classroom and playground. Classes will acknowledge the past 7 weeks and how that looked different for us all as we transition back to learning at school. Values acknowledgements are being handed out in the classroom and playground for students displaying respect, responsibility and honesty and merit and values awards will be handed out at fortnightly 'virtual' assemblies for the rest of the term - starting with K-2 this Friday.

At Burke Ward we are aiming to continue to work as a TEAM as together we can achieve more.

Friday Funday

We hope all staff and students will join in our Friday Funday and come to school in their sporting team's colours on Friday.

Wellbeing check-in form

There has been so much change in the last few months and the learning and support team would like to acknowledge this. Every home/ family/ child has had a different experience and so we would like to hear from you about how we can support you and your child/ children when we return to full time face-to-face teaching from next week. Please complete this short survey so that we can address the topics most relevant to your family's needs.

We love reading!

Our teachers have a love of reading and we regularly share quality texts with our students. Every week we will be sharing a video of one of our teachers reading a favourite book (of which we have many!)

This week we have Mrs Boyd reading Be Brave Little Penguin
