Student Wellbeing

Health Assessments

As of this term, I will be providing free confidential student Health Assessments.

The appointments will allow me to see four students a week with priority being our Year 12 students.  The appointments will take approximately 40 minutes, involve blood pressure checks, and conversations such as diet, sleep, and self-care. Students will have the opportunity to discuss any concerns they may have regarding health needs.

As a school, our heartbeat is to provide a holistic approach to caring for your child.

With this being a new service, please forward any questions you might have to me at

Internet Safety

Many families express concerns about keeping their children safe online. This is not just a local concern, families all around the world see this as an important priority.

It has become evident that some of our students may be accessing social media sites without their parent’s knowledge or permission. Many of these students are not emotionally mature enough to understand the implications of visiting sites which may have very unsuitable material or encourage behaviours which students may not normally do such as bullying, sending inappropriate images or watching or posting unsuitable content.

As parents, it is our responsibility, to talk to our young people about staying safe online and using social media sites wisely. Our school reinforces this message and teaches safe use of the internet as part of our curriculum, but we partner with families as many children are accessing these sites at home, using which ever devices they have available.

It can be difficult for parents to navigate these issues with internet usage, but there are lots of supports for families on line.

The Commission for Esafety has a lot of fact sheets, and support materials  for parents and carers and can be accessed by going to https://www.thinkuknow.org.au/

Many students have been spending more time on devices during the COVID-19 crisis, if you would like some information about students staying safe during online learning please follow the link below.

And if parents and caregivers are interested in obtaining more support and resources on internet safety please follow this links https://www.thinkuknow.org.au/parents-portal

We are privileged to work together with you to encourage our students to access learning via the internet, but to stay wise and safe while they are online.

If you have concerns regarding this or other issues, please contact the Well being team here at Strathalbyn.
