Welcome back, it's great to see you

Welcome back to students from Years 7 – 10! NHS will be a much livelier place with everyone here.

Year 12s will start some structured work in Connect classes this week, around planning for their transition from school.  The Class of 2020 have experienced some unique challenges, and have been building many skills which they will take with them beyond high school.  Even within this ever-changing landscape, now is the time to research and prepare for the opportunities available for 2021 and beyond.  I look forward to working with students, tutors and the senior team in assisting students through the transition process.

As the current stint of remote learning draws to a close, it’s a great time to reflect on the ways we have all grown and developed our employability skills.  I know that for me, I have had to adapt quickly, build relationships in a whole new setting and learn to master technologies that I hadn’t previously thought about using. Here is a quick read on how online learning has possibly made you more employable… you may wish to add some competencies and skills to your resume!

Are you in Year 9 or 10 and hoping to study in the UK or USA after High School?

If so, you may wish to attend this upcoming webinar being run by Crimson Education.  Looking specifically at entry requirements of Ivy League universities (Oxford/Harvard), and also exploring academic requirements and scholarships and sports pathways.  For more information, or to register for this event click here

Looking for an electrical apprenticeship?

Schindler Lifts Australia is one of the largest suppliers of new escalators and elevators in Australia today.   It has over 1,200 employees across Australia who design, install, service and modernise urban transport systems for almost every building type.

Most people considering a career in electrotechnology usually think about becoming a domestic (home) electrician, but this is only a small part of the electrical industry.

Apprentices in the lift industry not only learn electrical skills, but all the skills required to install, service, and repair and modernise lifts and escalators.

Students keen on finding out more about an electrical apprenticeship with Schindler are encouraged to register for the online Apprentice Information Night taking place on Wednesday 1 July 2020, from 6 - 7 pm.
