Winton Retreat

On the 23rd of April, year 11 Winton classes went to Lady Northcote for camp which taught students many personal development skills and helped build bonds between students and both their peers and home group teacher. Students participated in many activities which had them stepping out of their comfort zone and challenge themselves. But before students went off to their activities, there was a little Winton gathering where Winton cluster leader, Piath Monoah, and Winton sport captain, Frano Dolic, held a short factual session where a presentation about Tim Winton was presented followed by a quick quiz.

There were a variety of activities which included the Leap of Faith, the Giant Swing and Raft building. After students attended their three activities, there was a rotation of three more activities however this time students were with their home group. The home group activities included a Night Walk where the class was accompanied by Vince Iannuzzi who told the classes about the land and buildings that were on the Lady Northcote site, and the history which took place. There was also a circle time where it was a really bonding moment for the home groups where students learnt many things about their classmates and home group teacher.

The camp, overall, was a very beautiful experience for me personally because it showed many sides of people which were not shown earlier in the year. Many things were learnt about the land and its inhabiting animals. I also now feel as if we, as a Winton family, have bonded so well where many are no longer strangers to me anymore.

I would like to thank the Winton Coordinators, Chloe Palmer and Shane Hart, Vince Iannuzzi, the home group teachers and Greg, who took many wonderful pictures.

Stay safe and God bless.
