Bradman Reflection

From the Coordinators

May has been a great month for Bradman and has also seen many changes. We have welcomed Matthew Pitman as our new Cluster Coordinator and it has been great to see him hit the ground running in his new role. We would also like to thank Corrie Bekema who stepped in and helped out for the beginning of this term until Matthew’s arrival.

As we head towards exams and the end of semester, we ask that students and parents are aware of the uniform and attendance requirements. Please ensure that any absences are called into the school and the next day you are at school a medical certificate is handed in at study hall. Any other absences should be communicated to us as early as possible so we can work with you to sort it out. Please ensure you are in the correct uniform as well and any out of uniform items are accompanied with a note.

Remember as we head to the end of the semester that we are almost there! Keep working hard, keep on top of your homework, revise regularly, ensure you have time put aside for your friends and hobbies outside of school. Best of luck in the exams!

Fundraising

This term, each Bradman homegroup has been charged with the responsibility of raising $250. This money is set to go towards students in Timor Leste, who we are sponsoring to help them get a better education. Hopefully we can make a difference to Amelia, Danilo, Lenilde and Lenito.

We are starting this effort by having the BRADMAN LUNCH IN on June 4. One the day, each Bradman student is encouraged to bring something to share as we have a joint meal. There will also be pizza on the day. All we have to do is donate whatever we would normally spend at the bakery on lunch. If everyone donates $5 we are half way there.

We are also going to sell breakfast from 9:30am on June 25th and 27th. We will have pancakes and toasties for sale on the two days.

Cluster Sport

This term we’ve had a bit of a slower start to Cluster Sport compared to last term. We are glad to say that the Cluster spirits have been high and lots of effort has been present throughout the term. The sport chosen for Cluster Sport this term was ‘Commonwealth Games’, which has been broken down into Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Track Athletics and Field Athletics. Only being half way through the term we still have high hopes and are confident that we can continue to get more wins under our belt and develop as a cluster. On behalf of the Bradman leaders, we would like to say a huge thank you to the entirety of the Bradman Cluster for really improving on their sportsmanship and bringing spirits on and off field to an all time high, it is because of these efforts we are able to build on our already strong community.

RACV “Safe Mates” Competition

Congratulations to Bradman 5 who entered four entries into this year’s RACV “Safe Mates” competition. The competition is an opportunity for students to create an ad campaign aimed at their peers to encourage safe driving on the road and helping mates make safe decisions. We wish the class the best of luck, with winners gaining a $2000 prize.

Study Tip of the Month: Discover your learning style

Most of us have a preferred way of learning. Get to know the learning style you're most comfortable with and study in the ways you learn best.

Note that these styles are just a way to think about different studying techniques – they're not hard and fast rules that say you should only study in one way. Try each of these out and see which ways you prefer.

Auditory learners prefer to learn by listening. Try reading your notes aloud and discussing them with other people. You might like to record key points and play them back.

Visual learners prefer to learn by seeing. Try using colours in your notes and draw diagrams to help represent key points. You could try to remember some ideas as images.

Tactile/kinesthetic learners prefer to learn by doing. Try using techniques like role-playing or building models to revise key points.
