7th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME. MATTHEW 5:38-48

'Whoever keeps the word of Christ, grows perfect in the love of God.'

Dear Parishioners and Parents

Thank you for making possible the beautiful celebrations on the parish Feast day.

It was wonderful to be together and give expression to our faith through our core belief of God and the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.

The children were excellent!  Many people expressed how well they listened and were involved.

As I mentioned on Sunday, the time has come for us to begin the discuss:  “How to grow the faith community of St Mary’s now and the future”

We need to tap into new creative energy and faith.  To this end I invite you to come to 10.30am Mass on Sunday February 26, and a ” not- too- long”  meeting in the Parish hall afterwards.  A light lunch will be provided and someone will be available to look after the children.

This meeting is to understand where the parish is now and explore possibilities.

With god’s blessing for you and your family,

Fr Gerry

Can we make this a reality in Thornbury?

I have had a recent chat with captain Lilian Platts of the Salvation Army, regarding the possibility of our two communities combining forces for this initiative.

We both agreed to ask our people if they would like to attend an information evening to advance the possibility of providing a soup van in the winter months.  This meeting will take place on Monday March the 6, at 7.00pm at the Salvation Army, 710 High Thornbury.  An invitation will be offered at the meeting if you wish to be further involved.  Please let me know if you intend coming to the meeting.

The response I received after Mass last Sunday is most encouraging.  Thank you.  Fr Gerry
