District Cross Country
On Tuesday the 5th of May, 47 students from Lyndhurst Primary School represented our school at District Cross Country, competing against students from six other schools in the Hampton Park School Sports District. The event took place at Sydney Pargeter Reserve in Endeavour Hills in, at times, wet and blustery conditions.
Despite the inclement weather, our students performed extremely well and with few complaints. The 11, 12 and 13 year old students completed the 3km course, while the 9 and 10 year old students completed the 2km course. Their impressive efforts helped the school to finish in third place overall, behind Lynbrook Primary School and St Kevins Hampton Park. This is the best result we have ever achieved as a school in our five years of competing!
Along with our overall success, we had 13 students that experienced individual success by qualifying for the next stage of competition, Division Cross Country. These students finished in the top ten of their age group, an impressive achievement in a field of up to 70 students.

Engage With Asia
Lyndhurst Primary School is participating in the exciting ‘Engage with Asia’ initiative.
Our students and teachers are learning about the cultures of a number of Asian countries.
Each year level is focusing on an Asian country and they are:
· Prep - Indonesia
· Grade 1 - Sri Lanka
· Grade 2 - Japan
· Grade 3 - India
· Grade 4 - Cambodia/Vietnam
· Grade 5/6 - China
We are looking for any resources families are willing to lend us from these countries. These could include artefacts, ornaments, pictures, stories, songs, costumes, etc. We would also love to hear from anyone in our community who would like to be a classroom guest speaker, or share some music, dances or recipes from their culture.
Please contact Icey Voon if you bring anything or want to contribute in any way.
We have two sister schools that we are getting to know and liasing with in Bali. They are Sanur Independent School and Harapan Bunda School. If you wish you read more about them, please visit their school websites.
