2017 VET

All students who selected a VET subject for 2017 have received a VET information package in the mail.

The VET information package included a course confirmation letter, application form and will indicate the material fees payable to Lilydale High School.

The VET materials fee is payable to Lilydale High School by December 2, 2016. Students will not be enrolled in a course until the application forms have been fully completed and materials fees have been paid.

VET Orientation Day

Students completing a VET subject in 2017 will shortly receive details about a VET Orientation session.

VET Orientation is a compulsory session where students are informed about the requirements of the course and may be required to complete important enrolment paperwork.

Students are required to bring a pen, paper to write on, their USI and any other material requested by the VET provider.

Most orientation sessions will be held on Wednesday 7 December, however, students are advised to check the orientation paperwork to confirm dates, times and locations of their orientation session.

VTAC

Change of Preferences and where to find help?

Year 12 students who have selected courses through VTAC are reminded that thefinal date for course changesis Tuesday 20 December.

Once you have your ATAR results you may wish to add, remove or change your preferences until Tuesday 20 December at 12 noon.

First round offers will be available for successful applicants on January 18, 2017. Students will then be able to change their preferences again if they wish and after every round. However, we recommend accepting your first offer before you do this as only a small percentage of students will receive subsequent offers.

There is lots of help during this time if students need to change their preferences. All Universities and TAFEs have a number of different ways in which students can contact them, ranging from open days, to phone hotlines, live chats on their websites, Facebook pages and in person with course advisors.

A full list of where to find help at this time will be available to students on the Year 12 Facebook page in the coming weeks.

The Careers Office is available for Year 12 students until Friday 16 December.  As this is a busy time, bookings are recommended. Please call 9735 5644.

2017 Filmmaking Summer School

Wednesday 4  to Sunday 15 January, 2017

International House

The University of Melbourne

Why come to the course?

Filmmaking is an exciting, collaborative, creative pursuit and has never been more accessible or affordable. To make good films, however, we need to understand the essentials, using all the tools and personnel at our disposal. We can look for information online but there’s nothing better than learning from leading, award-winning filmmakers who deliver a lifetime’s knowledge and insight into filmmaking and the film industry.

What will you learn?

Learn all aspects of practical film production in this intensive summer school. Fully structured courses are available, or you can choose sessions on topics that interest you, or that you need to learn or improve on.

Who are the courses for?

The courses are open for people with little or no prior filmmaking experience, practising filmmakers or actors wanting to change career direction, as well as Media teachers and students, production companies wishing to train staff, photographers wanting to move to the moving image, and anyone wanting to understand and learn all the steps to making great films.

Held only once a year during the summer school holidays, the Filmmaking Summer School is the only industry-based film course for beginners and has the support of the Screen and Cultural Studies program at the University of Melbourne.
