WORLD CHALLENGE

Bon Voyage our World Challenge students
Tuesday 22 Nov - Tuesday 13 Dec
After 18 months of planning itineraries’, budgets, fundraising and an extensive training expedition, 30 of our Year 10 and Year 11 students accompanied by teachers Caitlin Armfield, Melissa Mc Millian, Jo Mogilewska and Jeremy Neumann flew to Borneo and Malaysia on Tuesday evening, 22 November.
They will be experiencing the rich culture of Malaysia and Borneo for the next 21 days. This will be both exciting and challenging, as they will be booking accommodation and transport, purchasing and cooking food, hiking and pitching tents along the way.
They will be trekking through a vast array of mountains, rainforests, mangroves and many of the endemic species located there and gaining an understanding of conservation issues and initiatives.
The student’s will live alongside and volunteer at the United Learning Centre (ULC) where the focus will be on cultural sharing and discovery, friendship building and educational activities. Students will assist the refugee students with their English skills, running art, sporting activities and games.
The students have worked hard as a team organising events to fundraise for the ULC. These funds will be used to purchase donations of much needed equipment and supplies for the ULC.
Their expedition will end with a much needed rest and relaxation phase in Kuala Lumpur before they return on Tuesday 13 December.
