2019 SCHOOL THEME COMPETITION

'JESUS, THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD'

Thank you to all the students who contributed to our 2019 school theme art competition 'Jesus, the light of the world'.

It was gratifying to see so many entries from across the student body. The time, thoughtfulness and effort to produce these beautiful pieces of artwork was clearly evident by the high standard of entries received

and judges found it a very difficult process to select five finalists.

The five finalists were;

Caleb Ng - Year 9G

Victor Samuel - Year 7C

Katie Yee - Year 5S

Summy Yee - Year 7YC

Victoria Zhang - Year 5F

However, after a lengthy deliberations judges selected

the winning entry submitted by Katie Yee - Year 5S.

Katie's is pictured above (right) holding her winning entry.

Her artwork features a group of people symbolising humanity's,

bathed in Jesus' divine light and bowing down in recognition of His Lordship.

The judges felt that Katie’s artwork best reflected the college’s Christ-centred focus and humanity's need to humbly recognise and accept Jesus' Lordship and authority. Special recognition is also given to the four other finalist for their hardwork in producing such unique and outstanding pieces of art.

Pictured above is Yun-Shing Hsieh (Visual Arts Captain)and Ben Audet (School Captain) with some of the wonderful contributions.

TIM TAM SLAM

February 16th 2019 was International Tim-Tam day and what dinky-di Aussie doesn't love a yummy Tim-Tam? However British born Andrew Farmer, our Junior school PE Teacher, was in no doubt that the English 'Penguin' version of Tim-Tams was supremely better!

SO THE CHALLENGE WAS ON!!

Could our blind folded taste tester tell the difference between the good old Aussie 'Tim-Tams' and the English 'Penguins'?

Deputy Principle Tim Farmilo (King TIM) and PA Tamie Dekker (Queen TAM) accepted the challenge.

What was King Tim and Queen Tam's VERDICT?

Penguins - uurrrgh!

Tim Tams - mmmm!

JENNY PROVIS NHULUNBUY BOUND

Hi all,

Ken and I had a great drive up to Nhulunbuy. It took 5 days, the last day driving the 700km dirt track into town. Our dog, Bella, loved it. We camped the first 2 nights and then when we reached Tennant Creek we saw it was 46 degrees and thought better of it.

We love Nhulunbuy and knew what to expect due to our many holidays here. It has been very hot, many days sitting on 35 with high humidity. I just praise God for air-conditioning in this modern era. The wet season has been very spasmodic and only now are we getting the real torrential rains. They are great fun and lovely to stand out in. We don't understand the concept of cold anymore!

Ken has been working and really enjoying it. We have met most of the MAF families and been invited to dinner quite a few times. It's lovely going out to dinner and you walk because they are around the corner. I have been relaxing, relaxing again and yet again. My biggest decision has been what time to go to the pool in town. I loooove living in a little community, no traffic, easy to get everywhere, talk to your neighbours etc. And best of all we've got the grandkids so close by. It's very exciting seeing them regularly. The 4 year old, Ethan, melted my heart last weekend. We went out fishing on Jesse's boat and Ethan sat up the back next to me. I asked him if he wanted to sit on the other side so he was next to poppa as well. He said "no, I want to sit with you nonna."

Most of the houses are like beach holiday houses, very basic and quite small. I asked God for a house with a verandah and we have 3 verandahs. Nothing, and I mean nothing matches inside our house so you can't be too house proud, but it's great for us. We are really thankful it has 3 bedrooms. It's also great having no stuff hanging around, no clutter, all simple and basic.

Well I hope you all have a great start to the 2019 school year and really enjoy your classes.

I have attached some photos of our trip up and living up here.

Bye for now

Jenny
