A GOD-CENTRED EDUCATION

Welcome everyone to our first newsletter of the year.

 

What a joy it is to be a school where we declare Jesus Christ as Lord!

 

An excellent education and a good ATAR is wonderful, but it is important to know that they do not guarantee success in life.  Only a God-centred education that is done in partnership with school/home/church will truly prepare our children for the future and for eternity.  

 

Charles Colson writes,

“All meaning and understanding are rooted in the ultimate reality of God who is.  Apart from Him, nothing was created.  Apart from Him, we are unable to perceive or to deduce truth about anything.”  If we do not base our educational efforts on the reality of God, then there is no truth.  If there is no truth, “then intellectual pursuits and education become merely a process.  Fads displace learning, the intellect withers, and we end up refining the analytical without knowing what is to be analysed.  …With no objective standard to point to what is true or real, music echoes discord; art reflects nothingness; literature stutters into chaos.”

 

In partnership with our families we will continue to educate and nurture our children based on God’s truth, love, hope and grace.  

 

Hopefully, our students will leave St Andrews with a God-centred worldview and be able to think and act according to God’s ways and ...His plan for their life.  

 

The ‘Religious Freedom’ battle is continuing in Parliament and unfortunately will probably be resolved by the Government party that wins the election this year.

 

As a College, we are standing firm to be a College that teaches God’s Word (scriptural truths) by staff who are committed Christians and model Christ to our students.

 

Please pray for our Prime Minister and all our parliamentarians, that they will be convinced that faith-based schools like ours need to operate in-line with our Statement of Faith, Our Values, Our Purpose and Motto.

 

Please pray for the College as we publicly stand up and advocate for faith-based schools, in our right to continue to function as a shalom community that is Christ-centred, God-fearing, Bible-based and Spirit-led.

My prayer for you all our community is the same as Paul’s for the Ephesians 3:16-19 (NIV)

“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”

It was all hands on deck on Friday the 1st February as school staff prepared to welcome back students for the new school year. Teachers, admin. and grounds staff were all primed and ready to launch into an exciting new school year. Even Principal Catriona Wansbrough rolled up her sleeves to attend to crossing duties and ensure students and parents were able to cross busy Tyner Road and arrive safely on day-1.
