Junior News

Welcome back to Term 2!
What a busy start to Term 2 Junior School has had!! We have had athletics day, Anzac Day and Twilight school already and we are only 3 weeks in.
In Junior School we have started learning about predicting in reading. We are making predictions about what will happen next, and thinking about how we can change predictions as we read. In writing, we have started looking at how to write a procedure. We have brainstormed lots of things we know 'how to' do and explain.
In maths, we have been focusing on chance. Juniors have been using the word certain, likely, unlikely and impossible to respond to statements and scenarios.
We have a busy term ahead and we are all looking forward to engaging in lots more learning!!
Athletics day
In the first week back of term we had the whole school athletics day. All of Junior school had a chance to compete in a range of athletic activities, such as: long jump, shot put, sprints, fox tails and relay races. It was fantastic to see everyone giving each activity their best shot! Thank you to Mrs Hadley for organising such a great day!!
Beebots
Over the last two weeks the Junior school has had fun exploring using our new Beebots. Beebots are little robotic toys that can be coded to move around a space. Juniors have been working on grid paper, directing the Beebots to various locations. They direct the Beebots using the keys on the top. They have had a fantastic time learning to direct and guide the Beebots.
We look forward to exploring further.
Melbourne Arts Centre Excursion.
Next week, we have our Junior school excursion into the Melbourne Arts Centre!
As a part of our Performing Arts program we will be attending a performance at the Melbourne Arts Centre. The play, Creature, is a story based on children's story Dot and the Kangaroo by Ethel Pedley. It is set in the Australian bush and has live music and acrobatics in the performance. After the performance we will go to the Botanical Gardens for a BYO picnic lunch.
We need all permission forms back by Monday. If you are unsure whether you have paid or need a new form please see your child's teacher.
