School Council Report for meeting held 26/08/2019

By Council Secretaries Sarah Skinner and Cait Eves

Hi Families!

Here are the hot topics coming from this week's School Council meeting:

  • The Building and Grounds Committee will meet before the end of Term 3 to discuss ongoing maintenance requirements and prioritise proposed school improvement projects. It’s not too late to join, Jayne Timms can confirm the time/date!

  •  As always, the oval was part of the conversation and is still a priority, with some ideas being further investigated. Stay tuned as we hope to have progress updates as early as this term regarding where to next to get a functional oval for our children to use!

  • Solar is still under investigation with the department of education and we’ll provide further updates when they become available.

  • Some policy reviews are underway - latest copies are published on the school website!

  • We are looking for quick assistance to help write up a grant submission for a community grant (applications for the grant close September 30th) - no prior experience needed, just a willingness to help! If you’ve been looking for a way to contribute and this sounds like you, please drop into the office to see Sam or Jayne!
  • A survey on the current uniform/possible changes is in the works, you’ll hear more on this soon via Compass - we look forward to hearing feedback from parents and students alike!
  • And finally, the hottest topic of the night - Voluntary fee contributions and the benefits they provide to our children!

In order for our wonderful school to be able to provide and develop all the extra curricular opportunities on offer, current examples are the eco farm, the STEM program and learning space development and digital technology (to name a few!), there is a need to request voluntary fees to fund it.

We are committed to communicating the latest updates on fee contributions as the information becomes available - to help provide the information around how the voluntary contributions are benefiting your child/children.

We hope that by sharing this information with you, you can choose to support the programs by making voluntary contributions (which would reduce the need to do so much fundraising!). If you have any queries in relation to fees, please get in contact with Sam Tyndall.
