Digital Technology News
Hi everyone,
I am taking over the role of Digital Technology Leader at our school this year. I am very excited to lead in this area and keep you updated on the wonderful Digital Technology learning that is happening at our school.
Digital Technologies and STEM (Science Technology English and Maths) are areas that I am very passionate about. When I was at University, I majored in ICT and Media. I enjoyed studying these areas and have been excited to be able to incorporate them into my teaching in many different ways. I hold a strong belief that technology can be a great tool in education, but it does always need to have a purpose. This purpose is crucial in enabling and empowering our children to become digital citizens who are safe and educated when using technology.
In the next couple of weeks an ICT User Agreement will be sent home. The user agreement is an important document which informs the children of the expectations required when using technology at school. When you receive this document, please take the time to read and discuss it with your child.
On Thursday 30th April at 7pm, St Martin's will be hosting a session from ‘Inform and Empower’ who will be presenting to parents about Cyber Safety.
The workshop is titled Parenting in a Digital World. The guest speakers (a teacher and a psychologist), will inform us on how to keep children safe when using technology. These speakers have been highly recommended to us, and it will be great to see many of you involved and engaged in this session. Please put this date in your diary.
Thanks,
Lucas Mangani
