Three sleeps to go!!!!!!!

The big day is coming quick, and it looks like the weather will be perfect for us (fingers crossed). The teachers are ready, the students are ready, the parent helpers are ready and the community is ready.

The build up has been fabulous, the students have trained hard, building up stamina for the running, teachers have been practicing the novelty stations, and the parent helpers are busy getting the powdered paint ready to splash.

The SRC have decided the fundraising donations, will go towards building a GaGa Ball Pit for our students to use.

Here is a short description of GaGa Ball:

Gaga Ball is the perfect game for an inclusive play opportunity for students of all ages. The organized game provides a fun opportunity for children to be active, socialise and play. Once children learn to play, they won't want to stop. The quick action and fast turn over of the games keeps everyone engaged for hours of fun.

Details of the event

Time - 2:30 - 3:30pm

Where - Starting on the school oval

We would love families to join us in the afternoon, please come along, join in the fun, cheer the students and be apart of a wonderful community event.

Reminders

On the day:

  • Students will need a water bottle, runners and their hat.
  • Students will be required to bring a white shirt for the Fun Run. Throughout the fun run they will be covered in non-toxic, high quality colour powder from head to toe!

I would love to have parent helpers at the event, to help with paint and novelty stations, if you are interested please fill in the form via this link https://forms.gle/SAtKkxUbFnRcxftJ8

Have a wonderful week,

Rules of Gaga Ball

It's super simple. If the ball touches you below the knee, you're out. The last one in the pit wins. Then, everyone hops back in for the next round. Games last no more than five minutes. As soon as you get out, you can't wait to hop back in.

The official game rules;

  • All players start with one hand touching a wall of the pit.
  • The game begins with a referee throwing the ball into the center of the pit.
  • When the ball enters the pit, the players scream 'GA' for the first two bounces, and 'GO' on the third bounce, after which the ball is in action.
  • Once the ball is in play, any player can hit the ball with an open or closed hand.
  • If a ball touches a player below the knee (even if the player hits himself or herself) he or she is out and leaves the pit. If a player is hit above the knees, the play continues.
  • If a ball is caught on a fly, the player who hit the ball is out.
  • Using the walls of the octagon to aid in jumping is legal as long as the player does not permanently sit on the ledge of the octagon.
  • Players may not "hit" the ball twice in a row,
  • A player who causes the ball to leave the pit is out.
  • Players cannot hold the ball.
  • If needed, a second ball can be thrown in the pit to expedite the end of the game.
  • The last player standing is the winner of that round.

Reporting and Managing Positive COVID Cases at School

Where a positive result is recorded by a student on a rapid antigen test, their parent/carer or student must report that result to the Department of Health via the COVID-19 Positive Rapid Antigen Test Self-Reporting Form  or call centre on  1800 675 398.

The parent/carer  must also report the result directly to the school by email and using the new RA Test Portal. The school must enter that information into the DET VicEd COVID Tool

Where a positive result is recorded by a staff member, that result must be reported to the Department of Health via the COVID-19 Positive Rapid Antigen Test Self-Reporting Form  or call centre on  1800 675 398.

Staff must also report a positive result through EduPay.

The student or staff member who has tested positive must isolate for 7 days.

Schools are no longer required to individually identify the close contacts of a positive case. Instead, schools need to inform the school community or cohorts as applicable, at the earliest opportunity, that:

  • there was a positive case onsite
  • all members of the school community should monitor closely for symptoms
  • staff and students should continue with twice-a-week or 5-times-a-week rapid antigen testing (depending on whether they are attending or employed at a mainstream or specialist school, respectively).

It is important the privacy of all positive cases is protected and informing the community of cases will be done to parents/carers via email/news feed through Sentral.
