Science News

What an exciting start we have had to term 2 in Science. Last week we welcomed some new creatures to our school, the Trinity Caterpillars! These little creatures are supporting our learning linked to our biological sciences units. So far we have discovered these little creatures like to eat lots of leaves so they have energy to grow! We have already had one caterpillar begin to pupate! This is when it attaches itself to the top of the cage with a little button of silk. It then hangs upside down and its chrysalis forms! We have had lots of questions and wonderings such as, “I wonder what colours our butterflies will be?”, “Why do caterpillars have antennae on their heads and backs?”, “How do caterpillars breathe?” “I wonder how long it will be before a butterfly comes out?” The caterpillars are located in the junior area, so feel free to swing pass and say hello to them!
